During the middle Ages and well into the twelfth century Faeries were an everyday sight. Not only were they abundant in the wild they were bedded commonly amongst the people in town and country. One was as likely to find an Elf living in your closet as you would to find a hole in your shoe in a time of great poverty. The commoner oft consulted with the Faery for a variety of remedies produced only in abundance in nature. People would travel into the nearby forests and glens to the many mushroom rings in search of enlightenment for the cures which ailed humankind during this period of the unqualified. This was a time of bonding for the Faery to humankind, a time when Faery felt very much a part of the human experience.
In the time of the rule of Charlemagne, King of Franks” in 769 human and Faery relations began to change although it would take a few hundred years more to go to wrack and ruin. Charlemagne was the champion of the Church and governed by Papal law. Unfortunately, the commoner became more uneducated than ever before and only those that walked in the sandals of the Christian God were deemed worthy of life itself. Church feasts now signaled the sowing and reaping days and Faeries began to be associated with the terrifying lore of ghosts and other unworldly trappings that abounded in the nearby forests.
The declining Faery-human relationship worsened as the Faeries were then capable of dimensional travel. Hence the knowledge of the vanishing and appearing from nowhere that is associated with lore. The Faeries were centuries ahead of mankind at this point in their spiritual awareness and this allowed their molecules to move much faster than the human. The quickening of the molecules allowed Faery to penetrate the veil that divides each dimension. A lack of understanding of this ability frightened those in power because there was no control over the will of the Faery. The perceived threat had to be addressed and unfortunately it was met by controlling mankind through oppression.
Faeries steadily declined in the eyes of the governing bodies run by the Church and emotional blackmail and tyranny ruled the land. By the 14th century and the black plague of 1347-1350 association with the Faery meant sure torture or death. The Faeries say that this age was the saddest time for them. An era when they discarded humankind as lost forever in the brutality of the time. It was the moment when many Faeries departed the third dimension in pursuit of an everlasting inner peace; with the last of the numbers to follow in the 17th century.
The Faeries feel now that this separation was something opposite than what the Creator intended for Faery and humankind. There are half-truths of lore strewn throughout the time of man concerning the Fae. But now I can honestly say that the stories presenting themselves in our time are based on fact. The most memorable to me is a recent a miracle that occurred over 40 years ago in windswept and barren sand dunes in the far north east coast line of Scotland in a place called Findhorn. The Faeries believed with all their hearts that this news of gigantic fruits and vegetables springing from the devils portion of the planet would bring humans to see that they are not mere folklore. I can tell you with all uncertainty removed that the Faeries have returned to the dimension of man in full force by 1997. I would like to share my story with you and with any of the humankind willing to listen to the absolute.
